About this Role

The Aylesbury Vale Academy is a good school with a strong sense of purpose and achievement based upon respect, aspiration and resilience.  Aylesbury Vale Academy provides a safe and stimulating learning environment for children from 2 to 18 years old.  At the Academy, we aim to provide an inclusive, engaging and challenging experience, leading to an education of the highest quality.

We are looking to appoint a creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND Department in the primary phase of Aylesbury Vale Academy.  The successful candidate would be expected to have the knowledge and skills to support pupils with a variety of specific needs, including the delivery of targeted intervention outside of the classroom.  You will be suitably qualified with experience of working with children in one of the four areas of SEND , and reporting to the Assistant Principal/SENDCo.

The successful candidate must have:-

  • Experience of working in an educational provision, and ideally, relevant qualifications in Learning Support.
  • A calm, understanding and friendly personality.
  • The ability to manage behaviour and help pupils focus on any given task, encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • The willingness to work flexibly and constructively as part of a team, providing day to day classroom support to the children and assisting with pupil behaviour as and if required in a supportive manner.
  • The ability to establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
  • The capability to work with teachers and the SENDCo to ensure progress and development.
  • Applicants must have a GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate.

Our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children will be reflected throughout the process, and the successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and an online screen check.
