The Premises Officer will join a small Facilities Team managing the school premises, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of vital services that staff and students rely on. The rota will cover afternoons to early evening from 3pm to 7pm daily, including a brief overlap with daytime staff (there is the possibility of a small adjustment to the stated schedule subject to discussion). The majority of the work will be planned preventive maintenance, routine checks of emergency lighting, water, heating, and alarm systems, and security patrols of the building and grounds. Some liaison with on-site contractors is expected, otherwise the role is largely lone working. As a keyholder, the appointee will be responsible for locking and securing the premises, and will share call-out duties.
Previous site maintenance and tool skills are desirable, but not essential. The position does require someone with good customer service, and a methodical and organised way of working. You will be reliable, and have a calm, flexible approach with colleagues. Most of all, you must be able to use your initiative to problem-solve and make sound judgements where advice is not readily available, knowing when to escalate issues appropriately. A commitment to safeguarding children and young people is essential.
This post would suit anyone stepping down from full time work, or wanting to combine part-time hours with caring or other responsibilities. Applicants will ideally live locally to, or within easy commutable distance of central Hackney.
If you match our ambition and want to join our dedicated team of professionals, we would love to hear from you. Candidates must address the person specification in no more than 1,000 words. Applications must be submitted via the MNT portal.
Interview are scheduled to take place in the week commencing Tuesday 5 May 2026
