Can you transfer your energy to our inquisitive students? Do your lessons light a spark of curiosity? If so, come and teach in our brilliant, dynamic Science Faculty.
You will teach Science to KS4, including trilogy and separate sciences, with the opportunity to teach your specialism at KS5. JCoSS students want to learn and to be challenged; we have high expectations of them, and you can expect excellent behaviour in lessons. We prioritise practical work and can provide modern, well-equipped labs supported by three science technicians.
We teach our KS3 curriculum over 3 years which gives students plenty of opportunities to develop their scientific skills and sets children up excellently for KS4.
Each year our GCSE results have placed us among the top state schools in the country. Our A Level results are similarly excellent and success at this level allows the vast majority of our students who apply to University to secure one of their chosen places each year.
You will be supported by a friendly, experienced team and an excellent programme of professional development and wellbeing activities. As a pluralist Jewish school, we close for a number of additional holidays, and we have an early finish every Friday.
If you’re feeling the force of attraction, we look forward to hearing from you.
As a voluntary-aided school of 1,400 students, including a thriving Sixth Form of around 400 students, JCoSS is a highly regarded, oversubscribed faith school at the heart of our London community. Our students achieve excellent academic outcomes, with almost 50% of all GCSE grades at 7+ and nearly 50% of all A Level grades at A or A*. Alongside a broad and ambitious A Level offer, we are proud to provide a wide range of vocational pathways, ensuring that every student can pursue excellence in a way that reflects their talents and aspirations. While we celebrate our academic success, we are clear that grades alone do not define an outstanding education. At JCoSS, we are committed to developing open-minded, thoughtful young people - mensches - who do the right thing even when nobody is watching. We want our graduates to navigate a changing world with integrity and compassion, able to contribute positively and meaningfully to their and the wider community.
At JCoSS, teaching is both purposeful and demanding. Our
staff are deeply committed to our students and to one another, contributing
fully to the academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of the school. In
return, you will join a collaborative, forward-thinking department, with
excellent facilities and colleagues who are generous with their expertise.
Pastoral care at JCoSS is phenomenal and central to who we are. Our dedicated team of over 15 pastoral professionals work tirelessly to ensure that every student is known, supported and challenged to flourish. Relationships matter here: warmth and humour sit comfortably alongside high expectations and mutual respect. We also believe that great schools are built by great professionals who are themselves lifelong learners. Continuous improvement is at the heart of our culture; sitting still is never an option at JCoSS. We are committed to developing our staff through high-quality professional learning, thoughtful coaching and a shared commitment to reflection and growth.
JCoSS is a place where ambition and kindness go hand in hand, where young people are encouraged to strive, to think deeply and to act with integrity. If you share our belief in the transformative power of education and want to play a meaningful role in shaping the next generation, we would be delighted to hear from you.
