About this Role

About Our School

JCoSS is a large, thriving and successful secondary school committed to providing an exceptional education for all students. We are proud to foster an inclusive and aspirational community where every student is empowered to flourish and excel in all aspects of their development.

Our pluralist Jewish ethos centres on creating confident, kind, and accomplished young adults ready to make a positive impact in the world.

Our focus is on creating an inclusive community where diversity is celebrated, and students are empowered to thrive academically and personally.

The Role

As Assistant SENCo you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students with additional needs receive the high-quality support they deserve. Working closely with the SEND Provision Lead, you will lead on implementing effective provision and interventions that enable students to make excellent progress.

This is a pivotal role that combines oversight with hands-on support for students. You will manage exam access arrangements, liaise with parents and external agencies, and ensure that Learning Support Assistants are deployed effectively. With a focus on transition processes for students with EHCPs, you will ensure continuity of support as they move through their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on exam access arrangements and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • To meet with LSAs every two weeks as part of supervision.
  • Support and develop staff in delivering effective SEND strategies and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies to meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Assist with the transition process for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 students with an EHCP.
  • Contribute to the auditing and reviewing of EHCPs, ensuring statutory provision is in place.
  • Lead Personal Learning Plan meetings with students and parents and provide updates on progress to senior leaders.
  • Support the SENCo in writing and contributing to EHCP applications and funding requests.
  • Contribute to the training and professional development of staff in areas related to SEND.
  • Play a key role in developing and maintaining an inclusive, student-centred learning environment.
  • To support students by organising and running 1:1 or group interventions.

About You

We are seeking an exceptional individual who:

  • Has experience of working in a SEND-focused role.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of SEND policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Is committed to promoting inclusion and ensuring that every student can succeed.
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Shows strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Brings enthusiasm, resilience, and a proactive approach to solving challenges.

 Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a supportive and forward-thinking leadership team.
  • Work in a school committed to inclusion and the success of every student.
  • Gain opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Make a real difference in the lives of young people.
