We are excited to be able to offer an Apprentice ICT & Media Support Technician to join our busy team within our Cluster Swindon Academy/Nova Hreod Academy.

Working hours:       37.5 hours a week Monday-Friday (there will be a requirement to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and adjustments to working hours during busy performance periods)

Are you looking to start a career in IT and digital technologies? Would you like to gain hands-on experience supporting both classroom technology and live performances?

We are looking for a motivated Apprentice ICT & Creative Media Support Technician to join our Swindon cluster team.

This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity where you will develop practical IT skills while also supporting music, drama and school productions. You will work across Swindon Academy and Nova Hreod Academy, playing a key role in both technical support and live event delivery. You will complete a recognised IT apprenticeship qualification alongside your role, with structured training and hands-on experience in both ICT systems and creative media technologies. 

Main Duties:

  • Assist the IT team when installing computer equipment. maintaining equipment .
  • Support the Helpdesk, adding and updating support calls.
  • Set up equipment required to deliver a practical music, theatre or dance lesson.
  • Support teachers and groups of students in the use of technology, including sound and audio equipment in the recording studio and other resources.
  • To provide theatrical lighting and sound production support for music, dance, drama productions, academy events and celebrations, which may on occasion include evening and weekend support for the annual productions.
  • Meeting the apprenticeship course requirements

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Sound literacy and numeracy, GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to build good relationships with young people and adults
  • An ability to deal with students and staff so that they feel they have been dealt with consistently and fairly
  • Good judgement over matters of confidentiality and integrity in dealing with sensitive information about students
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to positively respond to training in the use of school IT packages
