Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Officer to join our supportive school community.
The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every student achieve their full potential. You will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and external agencies. A calm and resilient approach is essential, along with the ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs.
You will be highly organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload while maintaining accurate records and safeguarding standards. Experience of supporting students with additional needs, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, or barriers to learning would be advantageous.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusion, student wellbeing, and creating an environment where all young people feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
The Unit is a provision for 100 pupils who
all have an Education, Health and Care Plan for Cognition and Learning, Speech,
Language and Communication, or Autism, and are working significantly below
age-related expectations. Pupils are taught in small classes of 8–15 by
specialist staff, allowing for highly personalised teaching and targeted
support.
Department - Unit Provision
Our team includes experienced teachers, support staff and external professionals who work collaboratively to provide a holistic and consistent approach to each pupil’s development.
Our provision is focused on creating a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn. We deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that is carefully adapted to meet individual needs, with a strong emphasis on developing communication, independence and life skills alongside academic achievement.
The team works closely with families, external agencies, therapists and other professionals, to ensure a joined-up approach to support student need. The role is varied, working with individual pupils, small groups, parents, staff and wider professionals.
We are looking for someone committed to
making a difference in the lives of young people. The successful candidate will
demonstrate patience, empathy and resilience, alongside strong communication
and teamwork skills to support pupils with diverse needs. This is an exciting
opportunity for a proactive person to be part of a supportive team, within a
nurturing and ambitious provision where every pupil is valued, supported and
encouraged to thrive and reach their full potential.
