Mainstream SEND Department Paragraph
Our mantra at CBA, that can be related to in all
situations or challenges, is:
Commit Believe Achieve
This could never be truer when considering our wonderful
SEND Department at CBA.
Our team is Supportive, Encouraging, Nurturing
and Dedicated.
We are extremely lucky to have a dedicated area called the
Inclusion Centre. This is a part of the building, which is welcoming,
purposeful and relevant to our students and staff. We have a sensory room,
learning rooms and a place for students to come if they are experiencing
challenges. Although some of this is relatively new, the students and staff
make good use of the resources and space. Learning rooms are for interventions
such as Zones of Regulation, Toe by Toe, Lego Therapy, Precision Teaching, SEMH
support and many more opportunities to allow students to engage in life at CBA.
It is great to see how busy the centre is. A great addition to the IC is having
the SEND Admin office based there too – having everything easily accessible
enhances the provision and helps day to day procedures run smoothly.
When talking to students, they say that the IC is a safe
place to come to - it is quiet and there is always someone to talk to. Some
have said that they can focus better and achieve success when doing their work.
Some of our students have bespoke timetables and when not in a mainstream
session, they often come to the IC where they complete their work or
participate in interventions. We work alongside the students to help
reintegration into mainstream sessions, ensuring we are a fully inclusive
school.
There are many adults who make up our team and we all
possess different areas of knowledge, expertise and experience which we share
readily to enhance provision and support our own growth. The true beauty of the
SEND team is how warm, welcoming and supportive we are. Every day, we liaise
closely with each other and the wider community of school. Our work interleaves
with that of all the faculties and we know we can be sure of support and
guidance from them.
No two days are the same in the IC however, no matter how
busy or challenging, we can celebrate the day knowing success has been achieved
somewhere. As a team, we are flexible, passionate and dedicated. As a team, we
look after the students, each other and the ethos of the school.
As a team we are Supportive, Encouraging, Nurturing
and Dedicated.
About Corby Business Academy
Corby Business Academy is a school committed to providing
the very best for the community it serves. We have already undergone
significant change in recent years under new leadership and our goals for
further development remain ambitious. We work relentlessly in providing a high
quality broad and balanced curriculum with stimulating learning experiences for
all our students. This is underpinned by our strong sense of common purpose
that is palpable in the Academy’s day to day operation. We aim to actively encourage
students to participate in all areas of academy life, motivating and inspiring
them to unlock their potential and realise their ambitions. Our staff have an
uncompromising commitment to this and work closely with one another to support
and develop students as well as one another.
In April 2023 the Academy was judged to be GOOD in all areas
by OFSTED, who highlighted that:
“Leaders have brought about significant improvement at this
school. They focus on providing an ambitious curriculum for all pupils,
including those with special educational needs and / or disabilities (SEND)”.
“Leaders have raised their expectations of pupils’ behaviour
and conduct, which is having a positive impact. Pupils behave very well in
lessons. During lesson changeover times and at breaktimes, the school is calm
and orderly”.
“Parents and carers are positive about the education their
children receive. One view shared by many was, ‘My child has thrived, been
supported, encouraged, cared for and listened to at this school”.
