Are you passionate about science and eager to inspire the next generation of curious minds?

Do you have the courage and confidence to lead a dynamic team and drive educational excellence?

If so, Thomas Deacon Academy is looking for you!

Your role:

As the Subject Leader for Science (Key Stage 3), you will be responsible for leading and developing all aspects of the science curriculum. Your commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all learners will be at the heart of your role. You will work closely with the Head of Department to manage resources efficiently and ensure the curriculum is planned and sequenced to deliver on the department's intent. Your compassion and courtesy will help create a positive learning environment where students feel secure and confident.

You will be accountable for the development and delivery of innovative learning approaches and resources, ensuring compliance with assessment procedures and keeping up to date with national curriculum developments. Your curiosity will drive you to inspire a love of science within students, promoting teamwork and motivating staff to share best practices.

About us:

As part of the Science team at Thomas Deacon Academy, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students, fostering their curiosity and passion for science. You will be part of a supportive and dynamic team, dedicated to professional growth and excellence in education. We offer continuous professional development and a collaborative work environment where your ideas and contributions are valued.

The Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection in November 2024 noted that “pupils benefit from a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated. They enjoy celebrating each other’s differences and participating in cultural activities. The school provides an ambitious curriculum that ensures pupils develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills from Year 3 through to Year 13, preparing them well for their next stage of education or employment. The Ofsted inspection rated all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision, as 'Good'”.

At Thomas Deacon Academy, we believe in the power of courtesy, commitment, compassion, courage, curiosity, and confidence. These values are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who embodies them in their work.
