About this Role

Willow Vale School is looking for a creative and passionate KS2/KS3 teacher who can deliver a differentiated and tailored curriculum to children within our primary and secondary sites.  The successful candidate will work to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum to the children within our school. They may also will be part of the outreach team to offer support, advice and guidance to our local mainstream school community.

Willow Vale School is one of two Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset County Council and Somerset schools.  We provide services through a number of centres and offsite for students who have a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. All students are referred through their mainstream schools in the Taunton, Sedgemoor and West Somerset areas.

Willow Vale School is the Pupil Referral Unit for mainstream schools in Taunton, Sedgemoor and West Somerset; we support a number of students across the age range from 4 - 16 years where they are at risk of, or have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. We are looking for dynamic, positive, creative and resilient practitioners who can support children and young people across the school.

Teachers will be expected to support HLTAs in delivery and planning of lessons. In addition, teachers will be key teachers / tutors for small groups of learners.

There is a need to be flexible in your approach, to work relationally and to be sympathetic to the individual needs of students and be able to make adaptations to meet the needs within the curriculum of all our students.  Ideally you should have experience working with young people who may have significant gaps in their education to help them re-engage in their learning.

The post-holder will need to be able to deliver a full core curriculum, alongside foundation areas, as well as literacy and numeracy interventions. This will be alongside social programs to support young people to be successful in mainstream school.

We can offer a range of CPD opportunities and the opportunity to work as part of a very skilled, supportive and experienced team. There will be opportunities for career progression as part of the wider partnership of schools, as Willow Vale works within a formal partnership with both Polden Bower and Avalon Schools.

Please contact Kim Lawrence, Headteacher, should you need any further information. Enquiries are welcome and visits are highly encouraged. Please call 01823 349338 to arrange an appointment.

If you feel you have what it takes to work with us to achieve the very best for our students, we would very much like to hear from you.

Willow Vale School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All posts require a criminal background check via the Disclosure procedure, medical clearance, proof of the right to work in the UK and satisfactory references.
