About this Role

Summer Holiday Club Staff

Muriel Green Nursery & Day Care – St Albans

The Setting

At Muriel Green Nursery & Day Care, we believe early years experiences shape a child’s future. Learning is at the heart of everything we do—but most importantly, we make sure learning is fun, engaging, and memorable.

This summer, our holiday club will be packed with creativity, adventure and play-based learning. We’ve created an inspiring environment where children, families, and staff thrive, and where every day brings new opportunities to explore, discover, and grow.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our Summer Holiday Club team. This role is ideal for someone who sees working with children as more than just a job—it’s a chance to make a real difference during the school holidays.

You will help deliver a fun, safe, and stimulating programme of activities, supporting children to learn through play while building confidence, friendships, and happy memories.

 What We’re Looking For

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualified practitioner (or relevant childcare experience considered)
  • A passionate, energetic team player who enjoys working with children
  • Someone who can plan and deliver creative, engaging activities
  • A positive role model who supports children’s social, emotional and physical development
  • A team member who values inclusion, diversity and child-led learning
  • A commitment to ensuring every child has a safe, fun and enriching day

Your Responsibilities

  • Support and engage children in a variety of holiday club activities (games, crafts, outdoor play, themed days)
  • Observe and respond to children’s needs through play-based learning
  • Work collaboratively with the team to create a fun and welcoming environment
  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all children at all times
  • Provide appropriate support and interaction to help every child thrive

Location

Our nursery is conveniently located within walking distance of St Albans City Station and is easily accessible via main bus routes across Hertfordshire.

What We Offer

As part of Hertfordshire County Council, we offer a supportive and rewarding working environment, including:

  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Access to training and development opportunities
  • Private medical support (including physio & 24/7 GP access)
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Hertfordshire rewards programme
  • Government pension scheme
  • Mental health and wellbeing support, including a calming staff space
  • 50% off childcare
  • Friendly, supportive team culture

⏰ Working Pattern

We welcome full-time and part-time applications for the summer holiday period.

Join Our Team

If you’re passionate about working with children and want to be part of a fun, dynamic summer programme—we’d love to hear from you!

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role involves working closely with children and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

All applicants are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of Hertfordshire County Council’s pre-employment checks.  Any appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a DBS and other safeguarding checks and also to satisfactory references being obtained.
