About this Role

Are you passionate about inclusion and working with children to help them flourish and succeed?

Are you looking for a school that will invest in and support your future career aspirations?

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to work specifically with children who have Education, Health and Care Plans both full and part-time.

  • Our ideal person would be someone who loves being around children, nurturing them to try new things and enjoy everyday at school.
  • You will greet the children each morning with a reassuring smile, being a consistent support for them to access learning, interact socially and remain emotional regulated.
  • You will work closely with the class teacher to support the child's inclusion within the classroom as well as provide one to one support as needed.
  • Through working with a team who go over and above, you will leave work feeling like you have made a difference each day and have been valued for the part you have played in a child's success.

Our school is a two-form entry school on the development of Shilton Park in Carterton. The children and staff often talk about the family of St John’s and the unity within the school, where we all work together and support each other. As a school we are fully committed to ensuring that every child and adult reaches their full potential. Our school was judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in January 2020 and again in May 2025. Noted in the report, ‘Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel greatly supported by leaders and governors.’

We have a  proven track record of supporting support staff in completing further qualifications through specific courses as well as degrees and teacher training.

If you feel that you are just the person we are looking for, give us a call for a chat or to arrange a visit.

Applications welcome from people who want to work full or part time.

Visits to the school are important to discuss the role and see the children within the school - email: head.2613@st-john.oxon.sch.uk. Applications should be made through the My New Term website.

Safer Recruitment

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
