Experience of working in a school or with children with special needs is desirable but not essential. Staff benefit from established career progression routes and training in education. School runs free weekly exercise and wellbeing sessions for staff.

Hours of work will be 8.45 a.m. – 3.45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 8.45 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Flexible working considered (pay will be adjusted accordingly)

This job includes the need for applicants to be confident and capable to work in the hydrotherapy pool environment. This may include getting into the water with the pupils.

Woodlands School would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

Do you have numeracy and literacy of level 2 or equivalent? Relevant level 2/3 qualification or significant experience of working with children, in a special needs environment (ideally more then 2 years)
Do you have experience of working with children within the education sector, preferably SEN, with a good understanding of child development and the learning process?
Do you have experience or working knowledge of implementing the curriculum?
Do you have a good understanding of current policies /codes of practice/legislation including an understanding of reporting and safeguarding procedures?
Do you have the ability and awareness to learn to support pupils with their personal care and understand that this is part of their learning? Do you understand that this needs to be done with respect and sensitivity and promotes the pupils independence?
Have you got the awareness and ability to motivate children in their play and learning? Have you got the ability to understand that pupil's behaviour has a range of causes and have the skills to promote positive behaviour?
Can you work constructively as part of a team, understanding the classroom roles and your own position within these? Do you have a strong ability to communicate effectively with both pupils and other staff/professionals around the school?
Do you have a willingness to contribute to the general ethos of the school? Are you able to demonstrate good time keeping skills, be flexible, organised and maintain records with confidentiality?
Can you give examples of when you have to reflected on you own practice and how you have used this to improve your practice or outcomes for pupils?
Do you have an awareness of health and safety and are you committed to the protection and safeguarding of the pupils?
