About this Role

Invigilators (hourly paid)


Hours will be worked as and when required during key exam periods which are currently November, December, January, February, March, May and June in the mornings and/or afternoons.


You will be responsible for ensuring that external and internal examinations are conducted in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and college regulations and policies including:

  • Attending regular training both face to face and online
  • Setting up the examination room(s) correctly
  • To assist with the distribution and collection of exam scripts and materials
  • To always supervise and observe candidates and be vigilant and alert throughout exams for the duration of the exam up to 3 hours 
  • To be calm and reassuring to candidates in exam rooms
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality 


We are looking for candidates who have:  

  • Honesty and integrity, and are able to work with discretion
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team 
  • Commitment, reliability and flexibility, to be available throughout the year during exam times. 
  • A basic level of computer skills


Sixth Form College’s Support Staff Pay Spine point 14, £14.54, including an element for holiday and bank holiday pay.  (This is the hourly equivalent of the annual full-time salary of £24,432).


Start Date: 23rd February 2026
