About this Role

The College is looking to appoint an organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Clerk to the Corporation to support the Governing Body in its role of determining the educational character, ethos, and strategic direction of the College. In this role, you will advise on compliance with statutory and contractual requirements and support the Governing Body in monitoring and improving the quality and impact of governance.

You will work alongside the Chair of Governors and the Principal to create an annual schedule of governance business as well as preparing papers and agendas for committee and board meetings. You will attend, clerk and minute meetings of the Governing Body and Committees. Additionally, you will maintain statutory governance records, manage public-facing governance information, and maintain a governance portal containing key documents and papers for the Board and committees.

The ideal candidate will have experience of organising and managing complex administrative systems and the ability to interpret statute, government and College policy to provide well-founded advice. They will act with integrity and impartiality in relation to sensitive or confidential issues in order to serve the best interests of the Board and the College.

Loreto Sixth Form College was awarded a second consecutive outstanding rating in all areas in our December 2022 inspection. Ofsted noted "Students’ behaviour is exemplary’ and that ‘Students who study at Loreto do exceptionally well.’ Ofsted also noted that ‘Leaders place a very high priority on staff mental health and wellbeing including workload. For example, staff can access counselling services, chaplaincy support, and the employee assistance programme’.

 Loreto Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding children and young people. The successful candidate will work 30 hours per week. The College is open to discussing working patterns during interview.
 Flexibility will be required to attend evening meetings in accordance with the Board and Committee schedules.
