About this Role

Crowdys Hill School is a dynamic and expanding special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs.  We have over 330 pupils on roll, ranging from  5-19 years of age rom the Borough of Swindon and beyond.  All of our pupils have moderate or severe learning difficulties and social communication difficulties.  Some have autism, ADHD or other more complex needs. 

We are currently seeking to employ a full time KS5 Teacher to work across our Sixth Form provision which is based across 2 sites, Jefferies Avenue and Swindon College, North Star site.  They will be confident in teaching a range of subjects from Functional English, Functional Maths, ASDAN, PSD course, PE and Duke of Edinburgh.  You will be required to be a class tutor which involves delivering a variety of tutor time activities. You will also be required to lead annual reviews and liaise with professionals.

Our school takes a very person-centred approach to each of our pupils’ learning to maximise their independence and realise their aspirations.

We welcome applications from professionals at all stages of their career, who have primary or SEN experience; or ability to teach a wide range of subjects if secondary trained.  Additional support and training will be provided for outstanding candidates wishing to further their specialist knowledge and understanding.  We support all staff in understanding and managing the special needs of our pupils, and give all team members an invaluable insight and appreciation of the rewards to be gained from working in a school such as ours.  Our emphasis for staff is on having a flexible and positive attitude towards ensuring our pupils get the best opportunities in their education.
