About this Role

Teacher of Agriculture (Part-time)

The Teacher of Agriculture is a brand-new part-time role that has been created to support the expansion of our curriculum and to accommodate the increasing number of students joining the College. This new subject will link closely with our exciting project to convert a recently purchased farm into a dedicated agricultural programme centre, providing a hands-on, practical environment for our students.

Agriculture will exist in the curriculum with the aim of encouraging and challenging pupils to understand the vital role of farming, sustainability, and land management. The subject aims to stimulate practical skills, environmental awareness, and scientific understanding, playing an important role in the College's broader educational strategy. Pupils will be encouraged to explore both traditional agricultural practices and modern, innovative techniques, alongside the importance of animal welfare, crop science, and rural business management. Teaching and learning in this new department is intended to be engaging and inspiring, with pupils working both independently and collaboratively in the classroom and out in the field.

The immediate priority for the successful candidate will be the support of students completing Pearson BTEC courses at Level 2 and Level 3 (Extended Certificate and Diploma courses), ensuring that the delivery and management of these courses provides students with a positive experience and seamless continuation of their coursework and examination preparation.

We are looking for a dynamic, well-qualified, inspirational, and imaginative Teacher of Agriculture to launch this key academic subject. The exact responsibilities will be dependent in part on the successful candidate’s strengths, experience, and the final pupil uptake for the courses. This position provides an excellent opportunity to further your professional development within a successful and supportive environment. The role involves teaching an appropriate part-time academic timetable, focused heavily on examination groups in the first instance. Contributions to the thriving co-curricular activities programme will be expected, alongside involvement in the broader life of the College, for example through house tutoring. Promoting the aims and values of this new subject across the College will be an important aspect of the role, and you will be expected to establish a culture of high performance, high standards, and practical ambition.
