About this Role

Teacher of Performing Arts (Full-time or Part-time)

This role, which can be tailored to either a full-time or part-time capacity, supports the expansion of our curriculum to accommodate the increasing number of students joining the College. It presents a highly rewarding opportunity for the successful candidate to help shape and grow our Performing Arts provision. Crucially, the subject links closely with our existing creative arts and music departments, providing a collaborative environment where students can seamlessly blend dramatic performance with other artistic disciplines.

Performing Arts exists in the curriculum with the aim of encouraging and challenging pupils to achieve their optimum creative potential. The subject aims to stimulate confidence, physical expression, technical proficiency, and dramatic understanding, playing an important role in the College's overall strategy to promote the creative arts. Pupils are encouraged to explore a diverse range of theatrical styles, modern performance techniques, and the historical context of the arts, alongside the importance of critical analysis, teamwork, and independent thinking. Teaching and learning is intended to be engaging and inspiring, with pupils working both independently and collaboratively in the studio and on stage.

An immediate priority for the successful candidate will be the delivery and management of BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Performing Arts courses to ensure students experience a seamless continuation of their coursework and examination preparation.

We are looking for a dynamic, well-qualified, inspirational, and imaginative Teacher of Performing Arts to contribute to this key academic area. The exact responsibilities will be dependent in part on the successful candidate’s strengths, experience, and the pupil uptake for the courses. This position provides an excellent opportunity to further your professional development within a successful and supportive environment. The role involves teaching an appropriate academic timetable, focused heavily on examination groups in the first instance. Contributions to the thriving co-curricular activities programme will be expected, particularly in relation to school productions and performances, alongside involvement in the broader life of the College, for example through house tutoring. Promoting the aims and values of the subject across the College will be an important aspect of the role, and you will be expected to establish a culture of high performance, high standards, and creative ambition.
