About this Role

A great opportunity has arisen at Polden Bower School for a HLTA and cover supervisor to support the teaching team. Salary is grade 12

37 hours per week. Term time only Plus INSET Days – 39 weeks

Polden Bower School has a pupil population of 260, it has three main bases. Albert Street Campus is for our youngest children in Early years and Key Stage 1. Bower Lane Campus is the biggest centre and caters for children from key stage 2 to Post 16 and we have a small Satellite base within Somerset Bridge Primary School. As part of Bower Learning Partnership, we are in a hard Federation with Avalon Special school in Street and we work in collaboration with the Pupil Referral Units in Somerset. 

The role will include whole class delivery including taking groups off-site. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and responsive to cover short term teacher absence and be able to think on their feet. They will be responsible for carrying our risk assessments and planning off-site visits for groups of children. We are looking for HLTA's who have both Early Years experience and Primary and/or SEND experience. 

We are looking for a dynamic practitioner who is flexible, adaptable and can plan engaging learning activities for groups and whole class.

You must:

  • ·         Have patience, flexibility, sense of humour and be resilient

  • ·         Have experience of working successfully with young people with SEND

  • ·         Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, young people, families and multi-agencies

  • ·         Be able to work with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality

  • ·         Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people

  • ·         Be committed to your own professional development
