About this Role

We are seeking two experienced and dedicated Matrons (Pastoral Housemistresses) to assist in the effective running of our boys’ boarding houses, each accommodating approximately 70 pupils. This residential position plays a key role in providing high standards of pastoral care, ensuring the welfare, development, and support of the boys in a nurturing and well-organised environment.

The Pastoral Housemistress ensures that the boarding house is a safe, well-ordered, and welcoming environment where boys thrive both personally and academically. From day one, you will act as a trusted figure for pupils, offering guidance and support while maintaining the smooth daily running of the house.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a warm and approachable personality, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of teenage boys.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Show flexibility, resilience, and an understanding, tolerant nature.

While previous experience as a matron or in a similar role would be advantageous, we also welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about working with children and eager to gain experience in a boarding setting.

Benefits include self-contained accommodation provided throughout the year and a generous school holiday allowance.

This is a demanding yet highly rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the lives of our pupils. If you possess the necessary skills and attributes, we would be delighted to receive your application.

Previous applicants need not apply.
