About this Role

Uppingham Boarding and Day School is seeking an experienced Domestic Team Leader to guide one of our House Domestic teams — a team dedicated to making our school feel welcoming, well‑kept, and truly homely.

In this key role, the impact of your leadership will be felt every day, helping create calm, comfortable, and high‑quality spaces where pupils and staff can flourish.

Your working day runs from 8.30am to 2.25pm, offering a predictable daytime routine that fits seamlessly around family life, studies, or other commitments - ideal for those seeking meaningful work within family‑friendly hours.  A daily hot lunch is also provided throughout termtime and our extensive added benefits include free Westfield Healthcare, discounts, and free membership of our Sports Centre

As a Domestic Team Leader, you’ll ensure our pupil homes always look their best. Your leadership helps create warm, well‑maintained environments that feel like a home-from-home.

Working closely with managers and alongside your team, you’ll take a hands‑on role in driving the success of our cleaning operations. You’ll plan effective cleaning schedules, carry out quality checks, manage stock and supplies, and play a key part in welcoming, training, and mentoring new staff. Just as importantly, your energy and encouragement will inspire your team to achieve their very best.

We’re looking for someone experienced or who can demonstrate the right attributes and a willingness to learn, the confidence to work independently, and the ability to lead by example. You’ll bring a meticulous eye for detail.  Just as essential are your communication skills and your warm and proactive approach when working with pupils and colleagues - fostering trust and ensuring a positive experience for everyone you support.

We currently have several positions available, offering the chance to join a supportive team where your contribution is valued.

Working 6 days per week, we have various shift patterns between 32.5 to 36 hours per week:

  • 5.25 hours per day, from 8:30am to 2:25pm. This role is for 36 weeks per year, plus an additional 105 annual clean down hours.
  • 5.25 hours per day, from 8:30am to 2:25pm, 52 weeks per year.
  • 36 hours per day, from 6:00am to 12:30pm, 52 weeks per year.

Additionally, we have morning central cleaning positions across our teaching and office buildings available from 6am.  Many of our staff combine various House and Central Cleaning roles.
