Amwell View School would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

  1. How does your knowledge, skills, experience, or any other relevant factors align with the criteria outlined in the person specification and job description?
  2. Please explain what motivated you to apply for this role and why you believe you would be a strong fit for the position?
  3. What experience do you have working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)? How has this experience shaped your approach to supporting children with complex needs?
  4. Describe your experience supporting pupils who are non-verbal. How have you used communication systems such as Makaton, symbols, or VOCA in your teaching?
  5. How do you ensure that every pupil, regardless of ability, is engaged, included, and making progress in your classroom?
  6. What does safeguarding mean to you in the context of working with highly vulnerable pupils in a special school setting?
  7. All staff working in schools must be aware of issues concerning confidentiality. They build trust with parents, children, and colleagues, and any information shared must be handled with care. A breach of confidentiality, even unintentionally, can damage relationships and trust. Schools also have a legal obligation to keep records of children and staff secure and confidential. Question: Reflecting on the statement above, what does confidentiality mean to you in a school setting? Please include how you would approach the use of IT systems and social media in line with safeguarding and professional expectations.
