About this Role

Responsible to:
The Head Teacher and Director of Music

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one music lessons to pupils
  • Practice and perform individual instrumental pieces in relation to pupils' needs for concerts and examinations and other performances as requested.
  • Play the drum-kit at each end of school term concert (as listed in the printed school calendar) and perform at the school music festival, informal concerts and other performances as required.
  • Promote drum-kit playing throughout the whole school
  • Aural tests as required
  • Have experience and up to date knowledge of Trinity or Rock School Examination syllabuses. Take full responsibility for recording and submitting any music files as required.
  • Motivate pupils and encourage progress.
  • Liaise with Head of Music as and when required.
  •    Select repertoire for school events
  • Establish positive relationships with children within age-appropriate expectations.
    Good communication with parents.
    Support the Director of Music to monitor and evaluate the children's instrumental progress.
    Always maintain a tidy workspace and ensure the equipment in it is in good order. Order new equipment with the agreement of the Director of Music.
    Always support the school’s commitment on safeguarding children in all aspects of the provision including their health and safety and paying due regard to relevant risk assessments.
    Be proactive in the continuation of your own training opportunities and performance development to improve the outcomes for children.
    Have a clear knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations.
    Adhere to all school policies. (DBS & pass to be worn visibly at all times on site)
    Be able to role model high standards in all aspects of the role and personal conduct including professional dress code.
    To agree to leave mobile phones and other electronic devices in the agreed designated areas away from children whilst on site.

    All Teachers are also expected to carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
