Graduate Learning Support Assistant (1-Year Fixed Term Contract)

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic graduates to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant, supporting the academic and personal development of our pupils. This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a career in education, psychology, or child development, and looking to gain hands-on experience in a school environment. 

 As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and pupils, supporting both academic progress and social development while gaining valuable classroom experience. 

Hours 
37.5 hours per week (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break). Flexibility in working arrangements may be required. 

This is a term-time role (35 weeks per year, including INSET days), plus one additional week during school holidays, with at least two days worked during the summer holidays. 

Key Responsibilities 

Pupil Support 

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils, helping them build confidence, independence, and engagement in their learning  
  • Support both academic progress and social development  

Classroom & Teacher Support 

  • Work alongside teachers to support lesson delivery and classroom activities  
  • Assist with behaviour management and help maintain a positive learning environment  
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement  

Curriculum Involvement 

  • Support learning across a broad curriculum  
  • Assist in preparing resources and adapting materials where needed  
  • Stay informed about safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety requirements  

Wider School Contribution 

  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime  
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and parent evenings  
  • Contribute to school trips, events, and the wider school community  

Enrichment Activities 

  • Lead or assist with extra-curricular activities such as clubs or after-school programmes

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality
