About this Role

St Albans School is a leading independent day school with an outstanding reputation for academic excellence. 

We are seeking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to join our established School Accounts team. Reporting to the Accounts Manager, the Accounts Assistant is responsible for various day to day purchase ledger and accounting duties. 

The role includes the processing of purchase ledger invoices, staff expense claims, the posting of bank receipts and payments and the reconciling of credit card and supplier statements. The Accounts Assistant also manages the Accounts inbox, responding promptly to queries from staff and suppliers, and providing general accounting support to colleagues across the team.

Applicants must have previous experience of working within an accounting or finance department, specifically with purchase ledger experience. Experience with bank postings/reconciliations is advantageous, although training will be given. Strong administrative and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and accounting software, are required, along with excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently to deadlines. The successful candidate will be organised, professional, and able to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and suppliers.

Hours are full time, 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.
