About this Role

At Lochinver House School, we believe childhood should be filled with curiosity, confidence, kindness and joy. We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our thriving Upper Key Stage 2 team and help inspire and support our pupils as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading independent co-educational prep school for children aged 3–13, renowned for its warm community, high academic standards and exceptional pastoral care. Part of the Haberdashers’ Elstree family of schools, Lochinver House combines academic ambition with a nurturing environment where every child is known and valued.

Working closely with our Year 5 and Year 6 teachers, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and pastorally, helping children to grow in independence, resilience and self-belief. Whether supporting learning in the classroom, working with small groups, assisting on school trips or leading an extra-curricular activity, you will help create an environment where children flourish.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children in Upper Key Stage 2
  • Builds warm, positive and professional relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Brings energy, flexibility and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children
  • Encourages independence, curiosity and confidence in learners
  • Has strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach
  • Enjoys contributing to the wider life of a busy and vibrant school community

In return, we offer:

  • The opportunity to work in a happy, ambitious and forward-thinking school
  • Supportive colleagues and a strong sense of community
  • Excellent professional development opportunities
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Access to excellent facilities and resources
  • The chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people every day

At Lochinver House, our values of kindness, honesty and respect are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our inclusive and welcoming culture and are looking for someone who will embrace the life of the school with warmth, positivity and commitment.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

Lochinver House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
