A genuine sense of pride is shared by staff and students at Ashlyns, a popular and vibrant school nestled within the leafy grounds of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. 

Ashlyns is an oversubscribed school with over 1500 students, including a successful Sixth Form that was rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted in October 2023. The school's ethos is underpinned by ethical leadership, with a strong sense of community, professionalism, and high expectations. The school's values of Integrity, Inclusivity, and Independence are central to everything we do.

Drama at Ashlyns

Drama at Ashlyns aims to produce creative thinkers who take a collaborative approach to produce high-quality pieces of theatre.  Our curriculum encourages students to work both independently and in groups, through all key stages, learning and applying innovative techniques which explore both traditional and contemporary work.

Our curriculum enables students to discover their full potential, building charisma and confidence that will transfer to a number of other subjects. We encourage a positive working environment, where our students feel safe to express themselves in a creative forum and receive feedback that is both supportive and constructive in order to excel.

Safeguarding and Checks

Ashlyns School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to a post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, as well as other pre-appointment checks including an online check, as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education. If you are shortlisted, your references will be taken up and an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence before the interview day. Shortlisted candidates will also be asked to complete a Criminal Records Self-Declaration Form. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
