Could you help shape the future of our school and make a real difference to children's lives?

Cockernhoe Endowed C of E Primary School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Local Authority Governor to join our Governing Board.

As a governor, you will work alongside other dedicated volunteers and school leaders to provide strategic leadership, support and challenge, helping to ensure that every child receives the best possible education.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Can think strategically and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Is willing to ask questions, challenge constructively and support school improvement.
  • Can commit to attending governing board meetings and undertaking relevant training.
  • Brings professional, community or life experience that will strengthen our governing board. No previous governance experience is required.

What does the role involve?

As a Local Authority Governor, you will:

  • Help set the school's vision, values and strategic direction.
  • Monitor the school's educational and financial performance.
  • Ensure accountability for standards, safeguarding and the effective use of resources.
  • Support and challenge school leaders to secure the best outcomes for all pupils.
  • Act in the best interests of the school and its community.
