About this Role

This is an exciting opportunity to build on the strong foundations established by our current postholder, who is leaving following a promotion.

We are looking for a candidate with strong financial and organisational expertise who can work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the school’s resources are managed effectively, strategically and in line with statutory requirements.

The role has a particular focus on:

  • Budget setting, monitoring and forecasting
  • Financial reporting and strategic financial planning
  • Financial compliance and internal controls
  • Procurement and value for money
  • Supporting operational compliance, including health and safety
  • Management of school lettings and selected support services

We welcome applications from both experienced School Business Managers and candidates with strong financial or business management backgrounds looking to move into the education sector.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have significant experience of financial management and budget monitoring
  • Be able to interpret and present financial information clearly to senior leaders and governors
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to prioritise effectively and work independently in a part-time role
  • Have the confidence to lead projects and support change
  • Be committed to high standards and continuous improvement

Experience within a school or educational environment is desirable but not essential.

In return, we can offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive school community
  • Friendly, committed and hardworking staff and governors
  • A positive and collaborative working culture
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • The chance to make a genuine contribution to the strategic development of the school
  • Flexibility with working arrangements for the right candidate.
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
