About this Role

I would like to warmly welcome you as a prospective applicant for a teaching opportunity at Nascot Wood Junior School. This is a rare opportunity to work in a school that was ranked as the highest achieving Junior School in the Sunday Times Top 200 schools list 2024. In October 2023, the school was rated as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.

We are looking for a Class Teacher to join our high achieving school, to provide maternity cover for a year 4 class, beginning in September 2026 for approximately two terms.

We have extremely high staff retention rates and this gives us stability to innovate and strive for marginal gains. We pride ourselves on our inclusive environment and would welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds.

We have established our school as a community of learners, fostering and developing a life-long love of learning.

In a recent survey, 100% of staff said that they were proud to work for the school.

We attribute our high staff retention to the following:

  • We are a close knit community with a supportive family ethos
  • All staff work together as a team and value each other’s strengths
  • We have a shared,  positive approach where an honest and open culture ensures that Class Teachers feel secure in sharing areas of practice that they find difficult, and want to develop further
  • We have experienced staff who offer high quality mentoring
  • Senior Leaders operate a praise culture which allows staff to flourish
  • Staff are valued and there is trust in their professional judgement; they feel safe and supported
  • Staff are kept well-informed and expectations are clear and linked to our vision
  • School leaders strongly advocate and protect a work-life balance
  • Leadership is proactive ensuring that the school is calm
  • Staff meetings and INSET days are well - planned with a Teaching and Learning focus, including safeguarding time for Class Teachers to complete tasks e.g. report writing and assessment
  • We have established systems in place to support Class Teachers, including a bank of planning exemplars, creative planning approaches that enable high quality teaching and the opportunity to plan with your year group partner
  • We have highly engaged and aspirational children who are enthusiastic to learn and independently discover new information; they actively contribute to the learning of their peers
  • Kindness is valued and promoted by all staff which leads to a positive and nurturing work environment
  • Senior Leaders provide supportive challenge within a growth mind-set culture, and Class Teachers are regularly given development opportunities
  • Senior Leaders have high professional expectations of staff which are balanced with a reasonable approach which is designed to encourage best practice
  • All teaching styles are valued and developed, free-thinking is encouraged so that teaching can be creative

We offer a friendly and welcoming interview process that is designed to see you at your best and provide you with a professional learning opportunity.

A year 4 Class Teacher said: ‘It’s hard to sum up this unique school - I can’t wait to start school each day. Everything you want to do as a Teacher you have the opportunity to do here; you fall back in love with teaching.’

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the school.
