Co-opted Governor at Monksmead School

Monksmead Primary School is a well-established school in the heart of Borehamwood. The school’s vision “To educate and nurture the individual to succeed within a happy and respectful community” and values “Respect, Try our best, Listen, Stop and think and Show kindness” is part of how the school nurtures every child and is valued, welcomed and supported to be the best they can be.

Co-opted Governors:

• Ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction
• Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure the money is well spent
• Ensure accountability for the standards achieved and the quality of education
• Help the Governing Body to work as a team to challenge, support and contribute to the strategic leadership of the school.

About you

We welcome applications from all individuals regardless of if they have prior experience of school governance or not.

We’re especially keen to hear from you if you have a background in HR, Safeguarding, or SEN.

• Have strong communication skills.
• Can dedicate time to Governing Body meetings.

While knowledge of education is helpful it is not essential to this role.

Time Commitment

• The Governing Body meet 6 times a year, these are held in person or online
• Preparation time for the above
• Any other ad-hoc meetings as and when required
