Inclusion is central to who we are. We are proud of our nurturing, relational ethos and are committed to ensuring that every pupil—particularly those with SEND and additional needs—thrives both academically and personally. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead whole-school inclusion strategy, making a lasting difference to the lives of our pupils and families.

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for inclusion across the school

  • Lead and develop outstanding provision for pupils with SEND and vulnerable learners

  • Fulfil the role of SENCo, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met to a high standard

  • Champion high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning across all classrooms

  • Inspire and develop staff, fostering a culture where inclusion is everyone’s responsibility

  • Work closely with families, governors, and external agencies to secure the very best outcomes for pupils

You will play a key role in driving our School Improvement Plan, ensuring that inclusive practice is embedded in everything we do.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has significant experience in leading SEND and inclusion within a primary setting

  • Is an inspirational leader, ready to motivate and support colleagues at all levels

  • Has a strong understanding of inclusive teaching, adaptive practice, and the SEND Code of Practice

  • Is highly organised and confident in managing statutory processes

  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Shares our unwavering commitment to high expectations and equity for all

This role would suit an experienced leader who is ready to take the next step, or an existing senior leader looking to further develop their impact in inclusion.

Why Join Us?

At Summerswood Primary School, you will:

  • Join a supportive, forward-thinking leadership team

  • Have the opportunity to shape a newly created role and make a real impact

  • Work in a school where inclusion, wellbeing, and relationships are truly valued

  • Be part of an exciting phase of school development and improvement

If you are ready to lead, inspire, and help drive our inclusive vision forward, we would be delighted to receive your application. Visits to the school are highly recommended to meet with the leadership team and gain a view of our school environment.
