About this Role

Are you positive, nurturing and passionate about giving children the best possible start in life? We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our warm and welcoming village school.

At Hertford Heath School, our Early Years team is at the heart of our community. We have a superb staff team within EYFS, an attractive learning environment and well-behaved children. We pride ourselves on strong village links, supportive colleagues and a learning culture where every child is known, valued and encouraged to thrive.

We welcome visits - please come to meet our staff and see our Early Years Unit in action.

Our Nursery operates daily from 9.00am to 3.00pm, and our Reception class runs from 8.45am to 3.15pm, supported by Breakfast and After School Club wrap-around provision. We require someone to work across the EYFS setting for 31.25 hours per week, term-time only.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with Early Years children

  • Has experience in EYFS and/or is willing to work towards NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Children’s Care, Learning and Development

  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

  • Is proactive, patient and committed to helping children flourish

  • Can support high-quality play-based learning, small-group activities and one-to-one support

  • Is enthusiastic about contributing to the life of a small, community-focused school

We can offer:

  • A friendly, close-knit team who support one another

  • Happy, curious children who love to learn

  • A caring school community with strong village links

  • A stimulating and welcoming Early Years environment

  • Opportunities for training and professional development

  • A nurturing workplace where staff wellbeing matters and benefits that reflect this

We are committed to safeguarding  and promoting  the welfare  of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will require an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Please apply early if interested as we reserve the right to interview candidates early should we have suitable applicants.
