We are now seeking a skilled, reliable and proactive School Electrician to support the safe and effective operation of our school sites and facilities.

The Role

As School Electrician, you will:

  •          Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs across school buildings and facilities.
  •          Maintain and repair lighting systems, power distribution, electrical fixtures and emergency systems.
  •          Undertake routine inspection, testing and certification in line with statutory requirements.
  •          Ensure all electrical works comply with current regulations, health and safety legislation, and school procedures.
  •          Diagnose faults efficiently and complete repairs in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  •          Carry out planned preventative maintenance schedules across all electrical systems.
  •          Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing and repairs.
  •          Assist with the safe setup of electrical equipment for school events and activities.
  •          Liaise with external contractors and ensure compliance with site and safeguarding procedures.
  •          Promote safe working practices at all times, including working at height, safe isolation and use of PPE.
  •          Support the school’s Wider Horizons programme by offering pupils enrichment opportunities.

About You

We are looking for a skilled professional who:

  •          Holds relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  •          Has experience in installation, maintenance and fault finding within a similar environment.
  •          Has a strong understanding of electrical regulations and health & safety requirements.
  •          Is able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  •          Demonstrates strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  •          Communicates clearly and works collaboratively with colleagues and contractors.
  •          Is committed to maintaining a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
  •          Is willing to undertake training and continuous professional development.
