We are now seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and adaptable English Teacher to deliver highquality teaching predominantly across Key Stages 2 and 3, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 4.

It is an exciting time to join St Edward’s School as our pupil numbers continue to grow and we begin expanding beyond our main site at Melchet Court.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, accessible, and ambitious English lessons across Key Stages 2 and 3, with potential to teach Key Stage 4.
  • Plan, implement, and assess learning in line with the English curriculum, whole-school expectations and SEMHinformed practices.
  • Foster a positive reading, writing and communication culture, supporting pupils to build confidence and independence in literacy.
  • Establish positive, trusting relationships with pupils, using consistent and traumainformed approaches to support behaviour and engagement.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, working closely with colleagues, families, and external partners to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Carry out professional duties of a qualified teacher, in line with the Teachers’ Standards.
  • Support the relevant Heads of Hub and Head of English in delivering their strategic aims.

About You

We are looking for a reflective, dedicated, and childcentred practitioner who:

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has a strong subject specialism in English.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom practice, particularly in teaching English.
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Communicates calmly, clearly, and empathetically, modelling resilience and consistency.
  • Has secure skills in English, Mathematics, and ICT.
  • Thrives as part of a supportive, committed team.
