About this Role

Trent College and The Elms are thriving independent schools set in beautiful grounds on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border. We provide a flourishing and happy co-educational environment for children.

We are recruiting a Teacher of MFL to work at The Elms who is enthusiastic and will inspire a love of language learning in our pupils.

You will plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that build pupils' confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You'll create a fun, supportive classroom environment where young learners feel encouraged to try new vocabulary and grow their understanding of languages.

The successful candidate will be fluent in French and have a proven experience teaching French to children, ideally in a primary / prep school, or similar setting. You will have a genuine passion for languages and working with young learners. You will have excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not required — we welcome applications from experienced tutors, language specialists, and native speakers with a strong teaching track record.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The school may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
