Internal Staff Vacancy - School Business Assistant - Finance (Casual/Relief hours)
We currently have an internal staff vacancy for an organised, proactive and approachable individual to join our friendly Finance Office on a relief/casual basis. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside two experienced colleagues in a supportive, collaborative environment where no two days are quite the same.
In this varied role, you’ll play a key part in keeping our school running smoothly behind the scenes. From ensuring suppliers are paid on time and budgets stay on track, to supporting colleagues with day‑to‑day financial queries, you’ll be right at the heart of our financial operations. You’ll gain hands‑on experience processing invoices and purchase orders, reconciling supplier statements, and helping to maintain the high standards of accuracy and reliability our school depends on.
You’ll work closely with staff across the school, providing clear financial information, producing reports, and maintaining accurate audit trails. As part of our internal controls, you’ll assist with important checks that safeguard transparency and integrity. There may also be opportunities to support audits, stocktakes, or provide cover during periods of absence — making this a genuinely team‑focused and collaborative role.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being organised, working with detail, and keeping things running smoothly in an office‑based environment. You’ll help manage the Finance Office inbox, liaise with suppliers and parents, and provide valuable support to the School Business Manager and Finance Officer with invoice processing and other essential tasks.
Full training will be provided, so you’ll feel confident using our systems and procedures, whether you’re returning to finance work or building on existing experience.
This is a relief/casual role with no fixed hours; however, we expect to be able to offer around one day per week (approximately 7 hours), with the possibility of additional hours during busier periods. This makes the role a great option for someone looking to gain additional hours alongside their current role within school.
If this role is of interest to you, we’d love to hear from you!
Should you have any questions about the role, or how the hours might fit around your other commitments, please don’t hesitate to visit the Finance Team or contact them at Finance@belperschool.co.uk.
