We are seeking an
Assistant Headteacher who will contribute to the strategic leadership of the quality
of education in the school and play a key role in driving whole school
improvement in this area.
You should currently
be a senior leader or have extensive middle leadership experience as a Faculty
Leader or Head of Subject. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with
a strong track record of improving outcomes for students. You should have a
genuine love of learning, and be someone who finds joy and purpose in
education. You will also be deeply committed to fostering a safe, inclusive
school community where every student feels a sense of belonging. In a
profession that is constantly evolving, you will be resilient and flexible,
able to adapt with confidence and integrity. You will be a clear and effective
communicator, capable of working collaboratively with colleagues and supporting
teams. Most importantly, you will model the behaviours and attitudes we expect
from our students—leading by example and continuously striving to improve your
own practice and that of others.
Central to this role
is the responsibility for ensuring the consistent implementation of our Teaching
and Learning Framework. Our framework is centred around five strands: Rich Content,
Equitable Access, Cognitive Demand, Agency and Ownership, and Formative
Assessment. These strands reflect our
school aims, which are outlined on page 3 of this pack. You will ensure these strands are embedded in
all schemes and across all lessons. A key part of this work will involve the
shared line management of Faculty Leaders (alongside the Deputy Headteacher),
supporting and challenging them to implement the framework consistently and
effectively.
You will lead the
school’s teacher appraisal system and alongside this, teacher’s continuing
professional development (CPD), including the planning and delivery of
impactful whole school CPD, ensuring that it supports teachers in delivering
our teaching and learning framework with consistency and confidence. A proven
track record of delivering high-quality, whole school professional development
is essential. In addition, you will take responsibility for the initial teacher
training programme, so experience in mentoring and nurturing student teachers
is required. You should also be confident in working closely with our ITT
providers to ensure a high-quality experience for trainee teachers in school.
As a member of the
Senior Leadership Team, you will play an active role in the busy daily life of
the school. This includes regular break and lunchtime duties, being a visible
and positive presence around the site, and participating in regular walkabouts
during lesson time. These responsibilities support our aim of creating a safe,
happy and inclusive environment. Flexibility is essential, as is the ability to
respond calmly and positively to changing demands, challenging situations and
last-minute adjustments in a calm and measured way, with good humour and a
solutions-focused mindset.
As a member of the
Senior Leadership Team, you will work collaboratively with other senior leaders
and the Headteacher to raise attainment and secure continuous improvement. You
will be part of a close-knit team, acting as a supportive and proactive colleague
who is willing to bring ideas to the table and contribute to the strategic
development of the school. You will be an excellent role model for staff and
students and contribute positively to the school’s ethos and long-term vision,
helping every student become who they aspire to be.
