About this Role

  • Start date: 14th April 2026 

    Salary: NJC Level 1 Point 3  

    Hours: Teaching Assistant 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year 

    Times: 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday – Friday  

     The contract will be a one-year Fixed Term contract. 

     We are looking for someone who: 

    • Has a child centred approach, experience of working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs would be beneficial
    • Is organised, creative and energetic 
    • Relishes the challenge of working with pupils with special educational needs and want to have an impact on supporting their learning, social and emotional development 
    • Has high expectations of themself and others 
    • Is reliable, hardworking and prepared to go the ‘extra mile’ for our children 
    • Is enthusiastic and willing to contribute to the life of our school 
    • Holds a current Paediatric First Aid qualification

    Shirley Primary School complies the Childcare Act 2006 and the Childcare (Disqualification) and childcare (Early Years Provision Free of Charge) (Extended Entitlement) (Amendment) Regulations 208.  All shortlisted candidates whose role will involve the responsibility for the provision or management of such childcare (including teaching) shall be required to declare that they are not disqualified from undertaking such work.
