About this Role

Salary Range PO1-PO2 £38,220 - £42,839 fte (dependent upon qualifications and experience) 

Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks per year from 1st January 2026

Hours: 28 hours per week arranged by mutual agreement across the working week (with possibility for some home working)

Morley Memorial Primary School  is seeking to appoint a dynamic and highly motivated School Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our friendly and welcoming school, designed for a professional who can drive the operational excellence required to enable the rest of our team to deliver the highest quality of education and care for our children, families and staff.

As our SBM, you will lead on Finance, HR, Premises, and Health & Safety, ensuring that our resources are expertly managed to provide the best possible outcomes for all of our pupils both in school as at our wraparound care.

What we are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A relevant qualification in business administration or accountancy 

  • The ability to effectively manage the school premises including statutory compliance

  • Proven experience of successful management of a large budget

  • Knowledge of key areas of legislation pertaining to personnel, premises management and health and safety

  • The personal qualities to be a great team player and team leader 

  • The ability to provide effective advice and support to the headteacher, senior leaders and governors on all aspects of the business element of the school.

We are particularly interested in hearing from colleagues with school specific experience including knowledge and understanding of school finance systems such as SBS and Arbor.

We are happy to consider professionals from outside of the primary education sector if they are able to demonstrate the relevant qualifications and experience and how they are transferable to our School Business Manager role.
