About this Role

                                                                                                                                      Teaching Assistant – Wood End Infant & Preschool

Join Our Team and Make a Difference!

Wood End Infant & Preschool is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our special needs children. This exciting role will initially focus on working directly with SEND pupils within our newly opened SEND unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, tailored support to special needs children within the classroom and throughout the school day
  • Work closely with teachers and SEND coordinators to implement individual education plans
  • Support the transition and development of the upcoming SEND special unit, collaborating on its successful roll-out and ongoing operation
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence and resilience in pupils
  • Assist in monitoring pupil progress and contribute to reporting and review meetings
  • Engage with parents and carers to support children’s learning and well-being

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • MUST have experience working with special needs children in an educational setting 
  • Understanding of SEND strategies and support mechanisms
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with a range of stakeholders
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Passion for inclusion and nurturing children’s individual strengths
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt as the SEND unit develops
