About this Role

Thomas Hickman School is gearing up for an exciting new chapter. As we look ahead to 2026, we are becoming Stronger, Sharper, Taller and Louder…and we’d love you to be part of it. Ideally, we are looking for a computing lead but if you’re right for us as a teacher, we will make something work that makes the most of your expertise.

We see our children as “mystery seeds, full of potential, with futures yet to unfold. It’s not for us to decide who they will become but it is our role to provide the care, attention and just the right conditions they need to thrive. Who knows, we may even have a future Artemis IV astronaut in our classrooms! After all, everyone has to start somewhere and whilst the moon looks impressive, Thomas Hickman School is even more awe inspiring!

We need you!

If you enjoy a Mathemagical Moment, thrive in a Fashion Frenzy, or would happily roll into RollerSkate@8 then we would love to hear from you.

Come and join the adventure!

We are a two-form entry school where 'curiosity hatches, creativity takes flight and learning soars to a sky of opportunity'.

We are all B.I.R.D.S at THS – Brave learners, Independent and Inspirational learners, Resilient and Respectful, Determined and Scholarly.

Could you be one of our BIRDS too?

  • We are a trauma-informed school with our own, bespoke ‘Hand on Heart’ approach to managing behaviour and relationships
  • We have a full-time therapist as a Co-Deputy Head works both with the children but also offers supervision to all staff members
  • We have specialised teachers for Sport, Music, and MFL
  • We have a FULL DAY AT HOME PPA model and additional PPA every week
  • We have wonderful children who need great Teachers and TAs
  • We have a rich and diverse parent/carer community who fully support the school
  • We have a Whole School Wellbeing Support package, with access to private mental health support, 24/7 GP support, Counselling, physiotherapy, and an annual nurse-led health screen to name a few elements of this resource

We need you if:

  • You are ambitious to take your career to the next level, especially in Computing
  • You have the highest expectations of our children and a desire to develop the whole child
  • You have a keen interest on how Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences impact learning (Hand on Heart)

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills
  • You embrace diverse communities and celebrate difference - We have a ‘No Outsiders’ policy here!
  • You have a clear understanding of how to raise standards through excellent teaching and learning

  • You are a BIRD with a keen sense of humour, open to change, and the ability to enthuse and motivate

Why not arrange a visit: come and visit me, Pippa the Headteacher and the team, find out more about what makes THS a fabulous place to be.
