About
the Role:
As a Family Support Worker, you will
- ·
promote and
safeguard the welfare of children at Oak Green School
- ·
build and
access a network of external support from a range of agencies, including local
Health Services.
- ·
promote the
safeguarding of children and young people in line with the school’s policies.
- ·
discuss with,
and support staff in dealing with child protection concerns that arise.
- ·
support
children and families across the school to ensure their needs are being met,
issues addressed and enable them to access the support and services they may
need to ensure their personal development, wellbeing and safety.
- ·
advise, assist
and support parents to take responsibility for their child’s attendance,
behaviour and health needs by building on the strengths of the family in
addition to offering practical support where required.
- ·
ensure
safeguarding systems are used effectively to keep children safe
Essential Qualities include:
- ·
Awareness of organisations that
offer support for pupils and families nationally and in the locality
- ·
Experience of
working to safeguard children and with engaging parents/carers and children who
are vulnerable or have social and emotional needs
- ·
Approachable to
children, families and professionals
- ·
Ability to
build strong relationships and establish credibility with families, academic
staff and senior leaders
- ·
Excellent organisational and
communication skills, time-management and ability to prioritise workload
- ·
Able to work independently and
be a team player
- ·
Be a positive
role model, who can remain calm under pressure while working to deadlines
- ·
Competent user
of IT systems (including CPOMS, BromCom or similar MIS, Microsoft, Internet and
Email).
