The Chiltern School is an Area Special School in Central Bedfordshire. Our school offers all through education from 3-19 years. Our experienced staff provide stimulating learning opportunities addressing the needs of pupils with moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have associated needs which include communication and social interaction, physical, sensory and medical.
The Chiltern School aspires to be a forward thinking ‘Centre of Excellence’, where we put the pupils at the heart of all decision making. We endeavour to take a holistic approach, valuing the whole child.
Our curriculum is innovative and bespoke so teaching our young people involves a variety of different skills. Due to our expanding size and increasing numbers of pupils, we have vacancies in the primary, secondary and post 16 age phases for teachers to work with pupils who follow an informal curriculum and have complex learning, communication and sensory needs.
We are looking for teachers who “Dare to be different” to join us. If you are passionate about education, have high aspirations for young people and you are an outstanding teacher with the ability to engage pupils in motivating and creative learning, come and join our talented team.
Our wonderful children go from nursery age to the end of Year 2 and have a wide variety of special needs. As a practitioner, you will need to be warm and genuine to gain their trust and attention, to care about the ‘whole’ child and be curious about the obstacles and barriers they might face. You will also be required to build excellent relationships with parents, coworkers, and other professionals.
We welcome applications from ECTs and teachers with mainstream or special school experience.
