About this Role

We welcome applicants for the position of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Early Years Specialist).

The expectation is that successful applicants would work towards the “Higher Level Teaching Assistant” Standards or equivalent qualification or be prepared to undertake the qualification.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading delivery of teaching and learning to pupils  in years R - 2.

You should:

  • Have high levels of resilience and experience working with children and young people with ASD, SLD and with SEMH and behavioural difficulties 

  • Be skilled and experienced in working with children in an early years or nursery setting/ and or specialist SEND setting

  • Be passionate about teaching and learning

Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to support our Early Years , Y1 and Y2 teachers  to deliver and implement strategies for pupils who require a bespoke curriculum that  supports their journey into school. Pupils learn the routines and pre-requisite skills required in order to access a special school curriculum. You will provide a key role in developing communication, meeting sensory needs and supporting the development of emotional regulation skills in order to meet this goal. 

This will involve teaching of individual/groups of children, the creation of and maintenance of resources, the development of learning spaces and the ongoing assessment of pupils' next steps and learning goals.   

It will also involve assessment, recording and reporting on achievement, behaviour for learning, progress and development. This may also include the management, support and development of other staff.
