About this Role

Bedford Modern School (BMS) is a thriving HMC independent co-educational day school for students aged 7-18. Our community is a friendly, happy and supportive one and all of the 350 staff members, spanning both teaching and non-teaching roles, help to make BMS a very special place to work.

Bedford Modern School is seeking an experienced Director of Sport and Fitness to lead and develop sport across Years 3 to 13.

This senior role involves leading a large and dedicated team of teachers and coaches, delivering a high-quality and inclusive sports programme that promotes both participation and excellence. The successful candidate will shape the strategic vision for sport, ensuring every student experiences a meaningful sporting journey and develops a lifelong enthusiasm for physical activity.

BMS offers excellent facilities and a broad co-curricular programme. The Director of Sport and Fitness will build on this strong foundation by enhancing performance pathways, strengthening community links, and raising the profile of BMS sport within and beyond the school.

The role also includes teaching PE, coaching teams, and contributing to the wider life of the school.
