Bedford Modern School (BMS) is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Head of Rugby to lead and develop its Rugby programme within a strong and successful Sport & Physical Education Faculty.

The faculty comprises 10 teaching staff and up to 20 specialist coaches, delivering PE, Games and sport across both the Junior and Senior Schools. Rugby plays an important role within the school’s sporting provision, offering students opportunities to participate and develop technical skills. BMS benefits from excellent sporting facilities, including a recently refurbished sports hall, floodlit AstroTurf pitch, modern fitness suite and swimming pool. Alongside curriculum PE and Games, the department oversees a busy cocurricular programme of over 30 physical activities, with strong uptake in GCSE and A Level Physical Education.

The role involves overseeing all aspects of the Rugby programme, supporting coaching staff, guiding player development, and maintaining high standards of conduct and commitment. The successful candidate will contribute to the wider sports programme, demonstrating flexibility to support additional activities and events and ensuring an inclusive and positive sporting experience for all students.
