Bedford Greenacre Independent School - Chef Manager

A prestigious independent school located in Bedford is recruiting for the post of Chef Manager

We are looking for an Enthusiastic outstanding caterer, with proven craft and management skills, with a high level of planning and organisational abilities.

Proficient in the understanding and managing of finances, and the ability to make decisions that result in positive change to drive the business forward.

Main Duties and responsibilities

Having full control of the catering operation including stock, food, and labour cost

Ensure consistency of food and service standards delivered to students and hospitality

Catering school events held out of normal school hours

Managing and improving all controllable costs in line with the budget

Compile and report on monthly budget accounts

Overseeing menu development

Maintaining all system, procedures and legislation

To ensure all labelling guidelines, Food information and Allergen information and Natasha law is been adhered too at all times

Carrying out regular audits to ensure standards are being met

To ensure compliance of all school and department policies, including Health & Safety and Fire

Recruit, manage and develop all staff

The Ideal Candidate


Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role of comparable level

Qualified to NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery or Equivalent

Be highly self-motivated and standards driven, with a passion for fresh food

Good numerical skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication

Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety

Able to work on own initiative within a team environment

Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions
