Working 33 hours per week, across 5 days, term time only, plus 5 training days
between 07:45 hours and 16:00 hours, Monday to Friday
Biddenham is an 11-19, oversubscribed school that, as we expand, is
entering the next phase of its development. Due to our popularity, we need to
grow and strengthen our already high performing staff team who, by 2026, will
be working with 1500 students. Our recent Ofsted report (Nov 2024) described us
as a ‘United family’ and was an accurate account of the school. Needless to
say, the successful applicant will be joining the school at an exciting time in
its development.
To start in September 2026, we seek to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic Teaching
Assistant to support the learning of individuals and groups of students with
special educational needs, both within the classroom and in the Learning
Support room, to enable them to have access to the whole school curriculum as
their individual needs allow. This may
include assisting students with physical disabilities or medical needs (eg:
carrying bags/ICT equipment, helping students to change for PE, assistance with
toileting etc.).
Successful candidates will
need to:
Possess a good standard of
secondary education with 5 GCSEs including English and Maths;
Have a background of working with
young people;
Be a good communicator;
Have good organisation skills and
the ability to work to deadlines.
As a school we offer:
A diverse workplace,
Chromebooks for all classroom staff and students,
Exceptional professional development and career progression,
A supportive environment for ECTs allowing them to
thrive,
Positive working relationships at all levels (with a
healthy dose of humour!),
A supportive leadership team,
A genuine focus on staff wellbeing with an employee
support resource,
Children of staff are prioritised
in our admissions criteria,
Cycle to
work and Tech scheme for all staff.
This position would ideally suit candidates who enjoy making a difference to students requiring additional support with their education and who are looking for a term time role with hours within the school day.
For degree qualified candidates who are interested in gaining teaching experience prior to applying for a teaching qualification, Biddenham has a comprehensive professional development programme and has successfully trained many graduates who have gained their teaching qualification through us.
Biddenham - ‘Opening Minds - Transforming Lives’.
Biddenham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, children’s barred list check, references and social media checks.
