About this Role

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School seek to appoint an enthusiastic and caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to help support individual SEND pupils.  A Teaching Assistant who is passionate and committed to supporting us, in developing the teaching, learning and well-being of children in our care.

We are a large, welcoming and friendly school in Luton, described as a "good school" by Ofsted and the Catholic Schools Inspectorate.  Our aim is to empower children to love learning and to be a school which is happy, engaging and a place where children feel safe and secure.

If you want to make a difference to children and young people and have experience working with small groups or 1:1 with children with SEND or behavioural needs, then this may be the opportunity for you.

 The successful candidate will be:

  • ·         be dedicated in supporting the aims and ethos of our successful Catholic school community
  • ·         be flexible, enthusiastic and committed in supporting the needs of individuals and groups of  children
  • ·         able to listen to the direction of the Special Needs Co-ordinator and class teacher, follow agreed lesson plans and use support strategies appropriate to the needs of the pupil
  • ·         work as part of a supportive team and demonstrate a positive attitude and good communication skills
  • ·         demonstrate high expectations of children’s behaviour and attainment
  • ·         be dedicated to raising attainment for all children
  • ·         demonstrate a high standard of English and mathematics
  • ·         be confident and patient when dealing with children who struggle to regulate their emotions
