Site Agent – William Austin Junior & Infant Schools

About the Role

William Austin Junior and Infant Schools are seeking a dependable, hard-working, and energetic Site Agent to support the Premises Manager in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning school environment.

This is a varied and hands-on role involving:

  • Site security
  • General maintenance and repairs
  • Porterage duties
  • Supervision of cleaning staff

You will play a key part in ensuring the school buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Premises Manager with day-to-day site operations.
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure the site is secure and safe at all times.
  • Supervise and support the cleaning team.
  • Provide porterage services as required.
  • Be available for evening and occasional weekend lettings (overtime payable).
  • Maintain flexibility in working hours, especially during school holidays and for absence cover.

Working Pattern

  • Split Shift Schedule:
    • Four days: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • One day: 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Housing Opportunity:
    Upon successful completion of the probation period, a three-bedroom house on the school site may be available under a tied tenancy agreement linked to your contract.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Professional attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently
  • Willingness to undergo child protection screening, including DBS and reference checks
  • Fluent spoken English for effective communication in a public-facing role

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a school or similar environment (training will be provided if needed)
